Charles Gonzales
I
am currently a DeLorean enthusiast. Cars are my life and if there’s a
car show I’m there bumping into Jay Leno and taking pictures! The DMC first caught my eye way back in 1985
when I visited Universal Studios Hollywood in Universal City, CA and saw the Back to the Future
DeLorean. When I first saw it I just had
to sit in the movie
car….and I couldn't even reach the pedals! I
took forever to get out because I was so amazed at the car and saw
beyond
the wires and gadgets. Besides I had time
to gaze because the doors locked shut on me! But
I wasn’t worried and they got me out ok! But
ever since then I have had the DMC-12 bug thanks to BTTF! It’s hard to
believe
I was sitting in a 4 year old DeLorean at that time!
Joining
the AZ-D Arizona
Delorean club
One day I decided to locate a DeLorean Club
here
in Arizona when I drove near a
DeLorean on the road while visiting my girlfriend for lunch at Arizona State
University in Tempe, AZ and
figured there had to be a club in Phoenix! And
at that time I only thought there was the D.O.A. in
California. Later on with the power of the internet, I
found
Randal Brown, club president, on my search and played email tag for a
while
and went to my first meeting I was the first one there and got to meet
a
great group of people at my first meeting at the clubhouse and have
been
a member since 2002 and enjoy the events and new people that join as
the
club grows every year.
DeLorean
Community - J.Z.D. and Me
I have met many talented and good people in
the DeLorean community in my travels including the DML. Vendors like
Dan Botkin &
Nancy and Don Steger (Monster Garage fame) of DMC Center Garden Grove,
CA. Rob Grady of PJ Grady NY and DeLorean
Car Show fame Ken Koncelik and also Steve Wynn President of DMC Humble,
TX. I even got to speak to John Z. DeLorean by
letter, and he was kind enough to autograph my pictures I
have sent him.
In
any event along with my great girlfriend and future wife Misty (also
part of
the AZ-D Club) we are having a blast!!

Comment from the Webmaster: Charlie
probably has the nicest collection of BTTF pedal cars in the US!
